Do you have ideas on how our brief could be improved?

Usability Experience
Prominent, simple navigation structure, usability experience across the site and clear representation of the home page works well. The user should be able to see what the site can do for them at a glance.
"Quick Tips" for accessible web sites:
- Images & animations. Use the alt
attribute to describe the function of each visual
- Image maps. Use client-side MAP and text for
hotspots.
- Multimedia. Provide captioning and transcripts
of audio, and descriptions of video
- Hypertext links. Use text that makes sense
when read out of context. For example, avoid "click here."
- Page organization. Use headings, lists, and
consistent structure. Use CSS for layout and
style where possible.
- Graphs & charts. Summarize or use the longdesc
attribute.
- Scripts, applets, & plug-ins. Provide alternative
content in case active features are inaccessible or unsupported.
- Frames. Use NOFRAMES and meaningful
titles.
- Tables. Make line by line reading sensible.
Summarize.
- Check your work. Validate. Use the tools, checklist,
and guidelines at www.w3.org/TR/WCAG.
Pop-up Menus
Your brief has a long list of content you want included in the website.
We have been structuring the content into suitable sections - by using
Pop-up menus. Also check out the Pop-up function by clicking on the
word "WEBSITE PROPOSAL" in the top left hand corner of this
page. Simple navigation that takes the user through a logical sequence
leading naturally to application gives the best effectiveness.
Quick Links
We are also suggesting using a lot of "quick links" to direct
the visitor around the site. These can be placed on the right hand
column of the site and also next to a paragraph for more info. Look
at your Stat Reports and find out what the most requested pages are.
Have links coming out from these and lead your visitor through to
other pages.
Contact details - check if people go to that page, if
it's on every page it's difficult to measure.
Colour Coding Sections
Colour coding can be helpful and continuity is important to avoid confusing the user when entering a new section. We suggest choosing one colour for each section on headers and strap lines from your colour scheme. See Sitemap & Colours to see how it's used.
By having a introductory page on each section the visitor can quicly see what information is to be found here, and then drill down to access more.
Change the content
Encourage the visitors and change the content to grab them. The big
graphic at the top can animate, change with different sections and
can also include various strap-lines/quotes to work with the content.
Are you planning to built Online Communities/Message boards/ Chat Forums in the future?
